Beware: The Oversimplified Style Tip
My client forwarded me this email from a clothing store in her town, chuckling because she knew my reaction to this type of style advice.
Allow me to share:
This may look like a helpful email full of quick tips you can use right now to help you "master your color coordination." You think to yourself, "Yay! I'll have it all figured out, and my closet will be amazing for fall!"
But here's the BIG problem with this kind of email.
It's far too generic of advice to help you hone your closet, style, or vibrancy in what you wear.
The bigger problem is that it's easy to fall into the trap of listening to this kind of "easy" advice and hoping it will work this time.
The truth is, a tip list like this isn't based on you as a real woman with individual features—it's been written by AI (did you catch that?) for a sweeping generalization of what color can do and should do in your wardrobe.
If you listen to this kind of "advice," you'll buy from that store but not in a way that truly honors your individuality, hones your closet or sparks your style. Instead, you'll dim your vibrancy -- even after spending money (once again) on what you thought would work. (After all, they gave you the tips, right?)
My bottom line is this: Beware of oversimplified solutions to self-expression, whether for your style, business communication, or personal branding strategy.

Clients & Community: See if you can spot the generic, oversimplified style advice in your day today as you scroll social media or watch commercials. Count them. Remember:
Above all else, be sure that what you choose, buy, and try to implement is tailored to you personally and comes from a deeper place than just shopping or getting styled for the new season.
You deserve more than just a new blouse hanging in the closet. You deserve the vibrancy that never goes out of style -- and that's not found in any clothing store first.
It's found inside you!
