Finding Confidence Through The Fear of Uncertainty

confidence mindset Mar 13, 2020

⁣There’s a lot going on. (Do I need to mention Covid 19?)  I know. We are all in uncertainty and that’s the place that Fear likes to peek up, and in some cases, run out waving its arms - like those Wacky Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Men - to get your attention. ⁣

I like to put Fear in its place and deflate it when I can.⁣ Here’s my go-to list in an uncertain situation:⁣

1️⃣ Watch and listen to experts speak - I’m an image consultant so I can’t help but share my expertise to help you find calm. When you listen to an expert speak, there is so much more truth in the tone of voice, inflection, and body language. All three will tell you more than just the words you read somewhere. The source - the expert - is also important. There is an expert in overcoming anything you fear and if you observe a message from a true one, you will either be comforted or spurred to considered action.⁣

2️⃣ Be prepared over panicked - Fear only considers the immediate moment since it’s primary objective is fight or flight. This can distort the future. Asking ‘how can I be more prepared here’ will force your mind to a future state with more long term consideration. ⁣

3️⃣ Ask what can I learn here - This is another way to put life as its happening to you into a personal perspective. Every day we live, there is a lesson for us to learn to be in self-love, compassion, courage or discipline. Find what it’s all teaching you and Fear deflates enough for you to make choices best for you. ⁣

Did that help? I hope so. That Wacky Arm Flailing Tube Man of Fear can be no joke when he shows up.⁣

Be well, Folks!
