Confidence Shift

How A Confidence Expert Survived Depression

Every successful person has an origin story.  Origin stories are a foundation for who you are and what you do. They are rarely all victories without some kind of knock-down defeat in there somewhere. I wanted to finally share my story.  Why? Because when we have the courage to tell our own story, we give permission to others to explore and do the same. I want to give you that permission.

A Journey To Surprising Confidence with Courtney

To celebrate the beginning of Season 2 of the Confidence Shift Podcast, I invited to one of my clients to join my Confidence Shift Conversations. Courtney, who went from a woman hiding in the background with her gift to help others to an on-purpose disciplined change-maker owning how she leads by example and using it to lift others.

We dove into her inspiring story of how she found eye-opening confidence in my Hue and Style image confidence program, what shocked her most to learn about how dressing unintentionally was reflecting her deepest negative self-beliefs, and how those belief were keeping her in depression from loving herself more and from fully stepping into the role of an intentional mother, and a leader to others in business.

Courtney shared:

How you “can turn her life around” by seeing yourself differently through the mirror first and then committing to connecting it to a transformed confidence mindset that changes your life.

Why Mainstream Style Comparison Will Smash Your Confidence

The mainstream tactics for 'finding style’, over the long term, keep you in more confusion, frustration and self-doubt than you realized.  The secret to finding what looks good on you on the outside lies on the inside instead.  Find out why!

Don't Fall For This 'Style Tip' Type

The “every girl needs....post, video, blog”. You’ve seen them. My question to you is... but ‘do you?’ I’ll be the first to help you see the answer is “no”. When it comes to personal style, it’s not possible for “every girl to need ___”. Why? Because personal style is.....PERSONAL.

Here’s a flip that has created the biggest transformations in style and confidence mindset in women I work with that has allowed them to not just showcase their authentic selves with what they wear but to deeply own their space in the world and the outcome they give others; Every girl needs...purpose ATTACHED to their personal style.

Huh?

Yes. Knowing the reason why you get up, get dressed, stand out from the crowd, voice a new opinion, put your hat in the ring, risk being misunderstood is the key to aligning what you wear with your beautiful purpose.

It’s not just about what is cute this season if you want to Dress In...

[In-Joy Series] Your Body Is A Gift.

“My Jeans Don’t Fit!” There was a time this would have sent me into a body-hate tailspin after a vacation.

There was a time I would have let the number on the tag define how I loved or loathed my body.

There was a time I would have punished myself with joyless exercise and deprivation-style eating to “get back into” my jeans.

Those times no longer exist for me. Those times and the depression that followed are what led me to what I do for women.

No woman needs to go through life with that kind of short ups and low downs about her body. After I healed and learned to see and accept my body for every stage, age, ability and through any vacation or regular life, I developed the part of my Hue and Style® process that helps my clients start a new relationship with their body (in heart, mindset and practical body dressing knowledge deeper than simple “fruit shapes”) even before I teach them all about how to curate their authentic style...

Get Quite & Be Your Own Muse

Quiet. Shhhhhhh..... you can’t hear yourself if you’re listening to everyone else.

I used to listen to a lot of voices that weren’t my own. I had a belief running rampant that if I wasn’t ‘out front talking all the time’ than what I give wasn’t as valuable or important. Wrong (of course). I’ve got a roster of extraordinary women I’ve helped built on this ‘apparent quietness’ to prove it.

I’ve learned and embraced that when there is power in the silence and intention in the solitude, there is time for focus and new creativity. There is also opportunity and space to develop more so that what you do give when you step out to be visible is the deepest, most authentically powerful version of a meaningful outcome possible.

It’s a freeing shift but takes courage to make it and discipline over time to practice it.

So, shhhhhh, go quiet. The world is loud and ranty. That will never fill you up even if it sounds...

See Wonderful Beginnings Hiding Themselves In Ends

It's a sacred time for me - the journal swap day. It's the time when one finished, and another begins.

Mike Posner's song "Move On," said it best, I think:

"Beginnings always hide themselves in ends."

Positive shifts in any part of your confidence come as a beginning from an end. The value in the change - the joy or pain in it - rests in perspective you create around it.

I like to attach positivity to an end is with a new journal.

The one I am retiring today has about 40 empty sheets left. I never let that bother me. When that book's season is done, I'm done.

I also like to make my last entry very intentional.

I take the time to thank the journal for carrying me through the season of the book, and then I let it go.

My new journal pretty much nails where I am in my head and heart as I start my new "personal year" that begins on July 1. (I'm not a January 1, kinda girl - too much pressure.)

Do you mark your beginnings with ends? Do you celebrate it or move through kicking and...

The Most Important Time Of Your Year

Mother Nature has seasons. You have seasons to your life. Flowing with them can feel like a crazy transition but look on the bright side, firstly, you’re not alone, and secondly, you can learn to navigate them when you know how to use them in your favor and define what is the most important time of your year - for you.

It took me a long time to learn this gem of a lesson.  For most of my life, I was an achieve-at-all-costs-type-A barreling through every season of life.  It wrecked me and sent me straight to depression.   When I saw that my life, work, business, relationship - everything - had seasons, I felt freer.

Here’s what I learned:

Your definition of success determines your seasons.

There are six definitions of success I work with my confidence mindset mentorship clients, and I’ll tell you, only one is money. I’ll also tell you that most women don’t care about a pile of money, they want it for different...
